UGC NET Result 2024 Live Updates: Age Limit and Relaxation for Assistant Professor and PhD Admission
There is no maximum age limit for applying to UGC-NET 2024 for Assistant Professor positions or PhD admission.
UGC NET Result 2024 Live Updates: Age Limit and Relaxation for JRF
Candidates applying for the JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) must not be older than 30 years as of the 1st day of the month in which the exam takes place. However, a relaxation of up to 5 years is given to candidates from OBC-NCL (as per the Central list on https://www.ncbc.nic.in/ ), SC, ST, PwD, Third Gender categories, and women applicants.
Relaxation is also granted to candidates with research experience (in relevant or related subjects of post-graduate degrees), for a maximum of 5 years. This requires a certificate from a recognized Indian university, an Institute of National Importance, a foreign university (approved/accredited in its own country), or a Public Sector Undertaking in India. However, research done to complete a graduation or post-graduation degree will not be considered.
Candidates with an L.L.M. degree can receive 3 years of age relaxation. Additionally, candidates who have served in the armed forces are eligible for up to 5 years of age relaxation, depending on their length of service. The total age relaxation from all these factors cannot exceed 5 years.
UGC NET Result 2024 Live Updates: What You Can Do After Qualifying For NET-JRF?
The candidates who qualify for the award of JRF are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor. The universities, institutions, IITs and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for full-time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them. The validity period of the offer will be three years w.e.f. the date of issue of the JRF Award Letter.
